Troubleshooting Guide

How to Read a Printer Test Page

A printer test page isn’t just a colorful sheet—it is a map of your printer’s health. Use this guide to decode what the different patterns are telling you.

### 1. The Solid Blocks (Density)
If a solid block has white gaps, your **nozzles are clogged**. If the block is “mottled” or patchy, your **ink flow is restricted** or your laser drum is failing.

### 2. The Text Samples (Registration)
Small text often reveals “ghosting” or “doubling” that solid blocks hide. If text is fuzzy, see our [Alignment Guide](/resource/alignment-troubleshooting-guide/).

### 3. The Grid Lines (Feed Mechanics)
Look for horizontal banding. Repeating lines at identical intervals indicate **roller contamination**. Random skips point to **encoder strip** dirt.
