DYMO manufactures direct thermal label makers for office and shipping use. They do not use ink or toner; the paper itself turns dark when heated.

Common DYMO Issue Clusters

  • ‘Out of Paper’ Error (When Loaded): DYMO printers use optical sensors to read black marks on the back of the label roll. Third-party labels missing these marks will trigger a permanent error.
  • Print is Faint or Spotty: The thermal head is dirty. Run the official Dymo cleaning card through the machine. Do not use standard paper for this.
  • Labels Feeding Continuously: The form-feed sensor is dirty or obstructed by label adhesive. Clean the optical path with isopropyl alcohol on a swab.
